Tim Mauri wants more people to have weight loss surgery. You see, Tim works in marketing for Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson medical device company that manufactures, among other things, instruments used for weight loss surgery. As the market leader in the weight loss surgery arena, it’s all quite simple for Ethicon: the more people who have weight loss surgery, the more instruments Ethicon sells.

ExtensionEngine recently analyzed the user experience (UX) of student portals for over half of the country’s top business schools and the results were not great. While I won’t get into the names, you’ve heard of most, if not all, of them. We visually reviewed the portal interfaces and surveyed a small number of students and alumni.

XBlock is the SDK for the edX MOOC platform. It's a framework that allows the open source software development community to extend and enhance edX to meet future needs and is written in Python2. XBlock is one of the aspects of edX that makes it such a powerful tool.
